‘Postcards from Home’ at Sandford Village Arts & Gardens Day

As part of the Sandford Village Arts & Gardens Day on October 20th, 2013, members of Artists of the Valley Inc. are organising a local community, small-format art event in the form of Postcards from Home’ for the residents of Casterton and District .  In keeping with the community spirit, there is no entry fee, and postcards are supplied with the entry forms.

We’ve had an enthusiastic response from local schools and the kindergarten, which fulfills our aim of getting the younger residents involved, though we hope adult residents will also be keen to participate.  Judging presented a bit of a quandary, until we decided to make it a People’s Choice voting system, to give everyone a chance to be involved, whether ‘artistic’ or not.  Prizes will be awarded at the end of the day for each of the six age-group sections, and some of the postcards will be for sale, adding to the fun of the event.

Anyone who wants a fun day out is welcome to come along to view the exhibition at the Sandford Mechanics Institute Hall, and enjoy art and garden exhibits, stalls, and the Sandford Village Market.
