Group of Artists from Casterton, country Victoria, and further afield in Australia
February saw several members of Artists of the Valley enter works into various categories of this year’s South East Art Society‘s Open Art Awards. The opening on 21st of February, held at the Riddoch Art Gallery was an enjoyable evening for those members of Artists of the Valley who attended, particularly as it was one of our own – Collin Tenney – who took out the overall winner of the show.
Collin’s painting Dog Trials, oil on canvas (shown below) caught and held the judges’ attention for its execution and use of colour and shadow.
Other artists from our group also did well, with First Prize in the ‘Other’ category going to Molly Galpin for her lampshade, a unique glass creation. Highly Commended awards went to Julie Kent for works in two sections (watercolour and pen and ink), and to Jenn White for a linocut print.
For a small group of artists living in the South West of Victoria, we did exceedingly well in a South Australian art show.
