Group of Artists from Casterton, country Victoria, and further afield in Australia
The end of April saw the opening of Gorman’s Art Gallery in Henty Street, Casterton, opposite the Casterton Town Hall. The brainchild of Artists of the Valley member, Collin Tenney, the venue kindly supplied by Casterton real estate agent Peter Gorman, and with other group members’ enthusiasm for the project, the Gallery now offers artists of all persuasions a venue to showcase their work.
Gorman’s Art Gallery is open from 11 am till 3 pm Thursday through to Sunday each week.
Gorman’s Art gallery provides an interesting stopping-off place for locals in the district and visitors to Casterton, with a wide range and variety of art and sculpture available for purchase. Prices range from just $5 for an artist card up to higher-ticket art, and everywhere in between. Stock is continually changing, with a regular three-monthly changeover of work by individual artists, so there’s always something new to see. Anyone looking for a unique gift, décor addition, or unique and original art has plenty of choice.
The gallery is run on a membership basis in a co-operative atmosphere, with artist members and non-artist volunteers manning the creative fort. Work on offer includes paintings in a range of mediums, assemblages, sculptures, glass art, jewellery, printmaking, drawings, and even furniture items.
Membership is not confined to the Casterton district – the gallery has members from as far away as Melbourne and Adelaide. For further information or details of membership please email to shazart1 at hot mail dot com (making the usual changes).
If you’re in the area, please stop in and say G’day, and enjoy browsing some very fine art.
