Redtails with Gumnuts - Vida Pearson

Redtails and Gumnuts by Vida Pearson – Overall Winner of the Clarice Beckett Art Award 2016 – a hand-coloured linocut

This weekend in June sees Artists of the Valley celebrating the Casterton-born artist with the fifth Clarice Beckett Art Award.  It’s always a hectic time for the group, with much going on behind the scenes to make it a successful award and appealing exhibition of the works entered.

This year’s judge, well-known artist Pauline Hamilton, had her work cut out for her with the quality of entries.  We congratulate Vida Pearson as The Overall Winner for her entry ‘Redtails and Gumnuts’, a meticulously hand-coloured linocut. This entry of Vida’s also won First in the Works on Paper Section (seen above).

We also congratulate each artist whose work was chosen as the best in their relevant sections.

Each artist puts a piece of their soul into every work they create, and we would like to thank everyone who entered this year’s award for doing their bit in making a vibrant and interesting exhibition.
