Group of Artists from Casterton, country Victoria, and further afield in Australia
It’s the year of the bi -annual Music Arts & Gardens In Casterton, and local artists are invited to be involved. Rather than have art in the gardens, visitors will be able to see and interact with artists, as they create work inspired by their surroundings, in a garden.
After the success of last year’s en plein air day at Warrock Homestead, folk are keen to repeat the fun. This year’s event will be held at Munro’s garden at Strathdownie, situated next door to Wilkin Forrest.
Well known and award-winning Penola artist Dagny Strand has kindly agreed to be
our art guide and mentor. She will spend an hour with us at the beginning of the day to discuss various aspects of capturing our surroundings, or parts thereof, and offer some tips. Later, Dagny will be happy to help artists address any issues encountered while working directly from nature.
Members have been challenged to produce small works for a special exhibition to be held over the MA.G.I.C. weekend. One of their five presented works is to be a copy of a Master’s work. It will be interesting to see art on a small scale, including miniatures, and how modern day artists represent their chosen ‘Master’ piece.
