The recent challenge for members was to work small.  We were to produce five small works.  Several members took up the additional challenge of doing a copy of a Master’s work.  It made for an  interesting exhibition at Gorman’s Art Gallery and we celebrated our achievements with a Spring Fling soiree.

On the night, an exquisite pastel miniature by Alannah Wood was voted  as the People’s Choice Award winner.  It was actually a tie between two of Alannah’s works, so no contest.

The few who took up the ‘Master’s’ challenge did so with enthusiasm, and some great results.  Our printmaker, Jenn White added an element to the challenge by interpreting one of Manet’s paintings as a linocut.

Several works sold during the exhibition, which is always a bonus for artists.  A round of applause for Julie Kent who suggested the members take up the challenge.

Would there be an artist willing to guide a group of students in painting a mural with a Kelpie theme on a corrugated iron water tank at Warrock Station.
